Exaggeration |
In this lesson students will animate a ball rolling into the "frame" and squash against an object. This lesson is concerned primarily with exaggeration as it pertains to the principles of animation, squash and stretch.

Squash and Stretch - As the name implies, squash and stretch is the squashing and stretching of an object or character.
Squash - When force is applied to an object, the object may squash in order to exaggerate the impact of the force.
Stretch - An object in motion may stretch in order to exaggerate the momentum of the movement.
Squash - When force is applied to an object, the object may squash in order to exaggerate the impact of the force.
Stretch - An object in motion may stretch in order to exaggerate the momentum of the movement.
Creating Squash and Stretch - in Photoshop
You will create the animation cycle of a ball rolling into a wall
- Set up your timeline - (Make sure you timeline is set to 10FPS)
- Download the background below for the setting of your ball
- Download the PNG of the ball below
- We will animate this together
- It is important to save and save often. It is also important for me to see the process and layers you have put into your projects.
- Submit your .MP4 file to the Squash and Stretch folder in Google Drive
